Dr. James R. Sampson
Dr. Sampson is a native Alabamian and has been practicing dentistry in Birmingham since 2008. He graduated from Samford University with a degree in Biochemistry and then received his dental doctorate at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Upon graduation he received the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain Award for excellence. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Sampson’s love for relationships, health, and artistry led him to dentistry where he is able to passionately pursue all three. His greatest desire as a clinician is to positively impact and encourage his patients in ways that go beyond teeth. When he’s not lecturing to people about the importance of daily flossing, Dr. Sampson loves time with his wife, Lauren, their family in Huntsville and Nashville, his dog, Maisy, and his church (Redeemer Community Church). He is also an avid fly-fisherman, though he doesn’t catch that many fish.
Dr. Byron Ketcham
Dr. Ketcham was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Shades Valley High School and graduated from Auburn University in 1970. In 1976, Dr. Ketcham graduated with honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Dr. Ketcham has practiced dentistry for over 35 years. He has developed a great reputation in the Birmingham community and with his patients for his servant heart and the high ethical standard by which he practices and lives. He and his wife, Patti, live on a horse farm in Wilsonville, Alabama. With 9 children, 13 grandchildren (and counting), they stay very active with their family. They also take great joy in being active with their church. Amongst many other (and more important reasons), Dr. Ketcham jokes that he enjoys practicing dentistry, so that he can “rest” from the never-ending hard work of a farmer.
Beth – Office Manager
Beth is our Office Manager and has been at this practice for 25 years, longer than any other team member. She deals with anything and everything necessary in order to keep us running. Her strong faith, encouraging demeanor, and lively personality have a way of making everyone feel welcome and a part of our family. Beth and her husband, Lemois, are residents of Trussville, Alabama.
Haley – Patient Care Coordinator
Haley is our Patient Care Coordinator and she makes it her priority to make your experience with us a good one. She is always cheerfully going above and beyond her job description to assure that our office treats you well. She has 10 years of experience in the dental field and has been here with our team for 3 years. Haley and her husband, Stephen “the Christmas Light King” have twin girls, Emma and Claire, and a son, Carson. They reside in Fultondale, Alabama.
Anna – Hygienist
Originally from Morris, Alabama, Anna has been in the dental field for 15 years with more than 10 years of hygiene experience. We, and our patients, love having Anna around, as she brings a lot of laughter to the office with her great sense of humor. She has been with this team for 8 years. Anna and her husband Ben have two children, Benjamin and McKinnon. They make their home in Gardendale, Alabama.
Jennifer – Hygienist
Jennifer began her dental career sixteen years ago in 1993. She worked as a dental assistant before obtaining her hygiene license in 1996. She has been with our team for 5 years. Jennifer takes great pride in the thoroughness and quality of care that she provides and takes extra steps to ensure that our patients leave with a clean smile. Jennifer and her two boys, Ryan and Hunter, reside in Gardendale, Alabama.
Laurie – Hygienist
Laurie has been a hygienist with us for 5 years and with 25 years of dental experience she brings a wealth of dental knowledge to our practice. She is originally from “the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains,” Bedford, Virginia. She began her dental career in 1984 while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Laurie is driven by the diverse nature of her work and constantly strives to better herself in whatever she does. Her drive and positive attitude is a constant encouragement to our team.
Laurie and her husband, Tim, live in Vestavia, Alabama. Her son, Bridger, is a student at Jacksonville State University.
Ashley – Dental Assistant
Ashley is our “home town girl.” Raised in Hoover, she attended Shades Mountain Independent Christian, right down the street, and grew up as a patient of this practice. Dr. Ketcham brought her on board in 1999 and she has been with us the entire 10 years. Her ability and desire to learn has made her a great asset to our team. She thrives on interaction with patients and those relationships are what fuel her desire to provide excellent care. Ashley and her two children, Abbie and Reese, reside in Hoover, Alabama.
Daniél – Dental Assistant
Daniél immediately began work as a dental assistant upon graduation from Bessemer Tech in 1995. She has 14 years of dental experience and has been with our team for 9 years. She truly cares about our patients and has a unique ability to bring comfort and calmness to them while they are in her care. Daniél and her husband, Chris, have been married 10 years. They live in Hueytown, Alabama, along with their two children.
Haley and Beth will be happy to coordinate your visit with us, as well as, answer any office questions you may have. We accept patients of all ages and would be happy to include you into our dental family. Should you have a dental emergency, under most circumstances you can be worked in that same day.
